| National Museum of Taiwan History is dedicated to preserve Taiwan's historical and cultural heritage. It is not only emphasizing on preserving, but presenting the collections to the public. NMTH has been under many years of preparation, it has more than 60,000 collections, through researching, exhibiting, publishing, and digitalizing those rich resources, it has been shared with people in public. |

The collecting strategy is based on 3 major sections in the museum, “Taiwan’s Foreign Relations History,” “the History of Ethnic Interaction in Taiwan,” and “the Modern History of Taiwan.” The ranges of collection are expected to present the diversity of tribes, cultures and its life styles. Therefore, it includes the historical artifacts, relics, and documents. At the same time, by actively collaborating with domestic collectors, related organizations, the NMTH builds a strong relationship with worldwide museum and is playing an important role among Taiwan’s society due to its distinguished collectibles and the unique characteristic.

The collections come in all sorts of time, background, physical nature, material, shapes and sizes. To make research easier, we categorized them base on their content into three major categories: the category of Books and Documents (ex: books, magazines, newspapers, documents, postcards, pictures, albums, sketches, art images and maps), the category of Implements (ex: Religious customs, industry objects, business possessions, clothes, accessories, and utensils, constructions, structures, transportation and communication equipments, entertainment equipments, political science and social study objects, health and medical devices, andweapons) and the category of Medium (ex: photographic data, music materials and videos.)

Moreover, for complete preservation, it is necessary to categorize the articles to sections by their physical natures and material. There are three major sections in the NMTH, the organic material (Fabrics, wood, leather, paper, films, etc.), the non-organic material (Rocks, metals, ceramics, glasses, plastics, etc.) and the section for collections that combine both materials.
In NMTH the articles collects spontaneously in both domestic and worldwide. We will continue works on researching, exhibiting, publishing, and digitalizing those rich resources, wish the value of it could be extended.
