The "Getting to Know the NMTH" Exhibition
The National Museum of Taiwan History entered itspreparatory stage in 1992 and opened officially in October 2011. Today ithouses a rich collection of historical resources. Apart from exhibitions, eventpromotion and publication of specialized literature, there are now currentlyover 80,000 objects in the collection. Most of these items were donated by thepublic. To provide service to museum visitors and enhance their understandingof the museum and Taiwan's history, a small, permanent exhibition has been setup in the main hall on the 1st floor of the Administration and CollectionBuilding to introduce the museum to the public. The services and themes of themuseum are provided so that museum visitors can receive correct and up-to-datemuseum information.
The "Getting toKnow the NMTH" Exhibition includes "A Museum Dedicated to theTaiwanese People", "Birth and Growth", "Crossing the Seas,Sandbanks, Cloud Wall, Integration", "The Core Essence of theMuseum", "The Classic Exhibitions", "Taiwan History Play Room".These six sections along with the other exhibitions, events, publicationposters on the theme collage wall and exhibition models introduce NMTH'sestablishment process. It also provides information on the museum grounds andbuildings, and on the various tasks the museum carries out. Together with the"Journey of the Objects" Exhibition, a full introduction of themuseum's collection, research, exhibitions, public services and other coreduties are provided.
