For many scholars, dissertations are indispensable references when they conduct research, as they often allow one to delve more deeply into the chosen subject. To broaden the scope of Taiwan Studies, the library has collected paper copies of doctoral dissertations written between 1963 and 2009 from universities in the US, Canada, and other countries. They cover a highly diverse range of subjects, from public health and national health insurance, to teaching methodology in Taiwan and the United States. The fields include law, gender studies, history, and painting. Through these dissertations, one can learn about the development of and trends within Taiwan Studies overseas.
