International Taiwanese Historical Materials

International Taiwanese historical materials document the world's perspective on Taiwan, offering impressions distinct from traditional viewpoints. These materials offer crucial context for Taiwan’s place in the world, presenting a new resource to understand Taiwan's history and introducing fresh perspectives to explore its past.

By examining Taiwanese memories housed in collections around the world, we gain unique insights into how different cultures have historically viewed and interpreted Taiwan. We explore the dynamic network between Taiwan and the world, aiming to define Taiwan's current role in the global context.

Since its establishment, the National Museum of Taiwan History (NMTH) has been dedicated to gathering and studying Taiwanese memories found overseas. So far, it has developed 42 projects focused on historical material research and publications. These efforts offer researchers, local historians, and the public a comprehensive and varied foundation for exploring Taiwan's role in international relations.
