National Museum of Taiwan History Exhibition & Education Building Visitors Notice

  1. Visitors are to abide by the regulations set out in this notice when in the Exhibition & Education Building. Visitors violating any of the following regulations may be asked to stop, denied entry, or asked to leave the exhibition area by NMTH. Those who refuse to comply may be reported to the police or other relevant authorities. 
    1. Food, drink, plants, balloons, or any other items deemed by NMTH as having the potential of adversely affecting the experience of other visitors are not allowed in the building. In addition, eating, drinking, chewing beetle nuts or gum, and smoking are not permitted in the building. Drinking water in water drinking areas and breastfeeding (breastmilk pumping) in breastfeeding rooms are excepted from this regulation.
    2. Dangerous or illicit items, including flammable and corrosive liquids, fireworks, sharp instruments, and any other objects that could harm other individuals or damage items in NMTH’s collection, are strictly prohibited and are not to be brought into the building. When an item is objectively suspected of being hazardous, visitors agree that NMTH may conduct necessary safety inspections; otherwise, NMTH reserves the right to refuse entry to visitors.
    3. No pets are allowed, however, legally certified guide dogs for the vision impaired, hearing dogs for the hearing impaired, service dogs for the physically disabled, and other authorized service dogs that are working or being trained as well as legally certified government agency canines that are working or being trained are exempted from this regulation. 
    4. Large items and suitcases are not permitted in the exhibition area and must be deposited at the locker on 1st floor. Items must be retrieved from the checkroom the same day. NMTH is not responsible for safekeeping items. 
    5. Shouting, use of sound amplification devices, gambling, card playing, drinking of alcohol, running, horsing around, causing disturbances, making noise, or any other improper behavior that adversely impacts public peace or order is not permitted. 
    6. No spitting, littering, lying down in seats, sleeping, removing shoes, sitting with your feet up on something, or using laser pens (light pens) and using electrical outlets is not allowed without NMTH’s permission.
    7. No use of wheeled devices, including skates, skateboards, or bicycles. Baby carriages and wheelchairs are exempted from this regulation.
    8. Distributing of advertisements or promotional materials and behavior that could disturb other visitors, such as activities, gatherings, and speeches, are not allowed in the building without the permission of the NMTH. 
    9. Touching (except when posted signs specifically indicate it is permitted) and damaging exhibits is not allowed. In addition, do not press down on, sit on, or step over barriers, handrails, glass display cases, panels, or other museum property. 
    10. When photographing, the use of auxiliary equipment, such as selfie sticks, tripods, flash equipment, and fill lights, is not permitted. In addition, when photographing, do not disturb other visitors or adversely impact visitor traffic flow. In areas with “no photography allowed” signs, taking photos and videos is strictly prohibited. Permission for special exemptions must be obtained from NMTH. 
    11. No live streaming or photography/videotaping, such as for weddings, artistic purposes, cosplay, or business purposes, is permitted in the building. Permission for special exemptions must be obtained from NMTH.
    12. No other behavior deemed to be disruptive by NMTH is permitted. 
  2. To ensure safety, the building has a designated maximum visitor capacity. Visitors are asked to cooperate with NMTH and enter orderly only when the museum deems it appropriate.
  3. Visitors are responsible for the safety of any children they accompany. During visits, children below six years of age are to be accompanied by an adult; children between the ages of 6-12 are recommended to be accompanied by an adult.
  4. Any individual that damages any display item or other museum property will be subject to criminal charges for property damage by NMTH and civil damages will be sought.
  5. In the event of natural disasters, emergencies, or other force majeure events when the local government announces the suspension of work or during exhibition changes or when the venue is undergoing renovations, construction, or special activities, NMTH may close the museum or suspend operations in part or in full.
